Fashion is about following trends, style is more about being yourself

There’s no doubt about it, fashion is fun. It’s a fleeting moment in time where you might find yourself being part of a crowd. And there’s nothing wrong with that, being trendy, dressing in a version of ‘what’s’ in right now, it’s an enjoyable way to be. But blink and it’s gone, replaced by a newer, shinier, whizz-bang alternative. Sometimes it can be hard to keep up, but there is an alternate way. A combination of both what’s in, and what’s hanging around a little longer.
So, consider style. Elegance is longer-lasting, with a focus on classic lines, colours and shapes. From season to season, you can rest-assured that your clothing favourites will stand the test of time. When choosing clothes that last that little bit longer, focus on the basics. A dress, a good quality jacket, real leather boots. Then combine the longer-lasting pieces with a few, modern affordable updates.
So, what’s a girl to do? Classic or trendy? Well, in truth a little bit of both. If you cultivate a 70/30 wardrobe split, with the accent on classic clothing choices, you are guaranteed to stay current, without giving in to fads. And at the same time, there’s still the opportunity to amp it up with some fresh, up to the minute pieces. But in the end, it’s up to you. If wearing the latest items every day is the way you like it, then go for it. If you like to mix and match, or go full-on classic, there’s nothing wrong with that.
Because whatever your style, your own opinion is the thing that counts. And when you have confidence in your look, it shows. There’s nothing more stylish than that.
